The Potts family have been bakers in Barnsley since 1891

Potts Bakers is a reliable, family run business well known for our traditional bread and delicious cakes which you can buy at our market stall, local, independent supermarkets and Coops in the region. We also supply local schools and food service. Potts Bakers is a member of the Craft Bakers Association and is SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier) accredited.

Everyone at Potts Bakers is continuing to work safely in these difficult times, to take orders, bake, pack and deliver our bread and confectionary to our usual high standards for existing and new customers.

Our stall in Barnsley Market is now open from 8.30 am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday.

Nutritional and allergen information

To help you make informed nutritional choices there is a nutritional analysis on all labels per 100g and per portion. Allergens and cereals containing allergens are shown in the ingredients lists on all labels in CAPITAL letters.

Please be aware that all our products contain flour or cereals and so no products are gluten free. Milk, cream, butter, eggs, soya and celery are also among the ingredients containing allergens that are used in the bakery. Although we do not use nuts in our bakery many ingredients may have been made in factories which process nuts and so we cannot guarantee any product is completely nut free.

If you have any questions please contact us – retail customers just ask our staff at the Market shop, wholesales customers can call the bakery and ask for the Sales Manager.

Our concern for the environment includes minimising all waste, recycling and using environmentally friendly ingredients

All the cardboard/flour bags, plastic that we use is put into separate recycling bins that are then collected from our bakery and recycled at a local facility. All of the waste metal is taken to be recycled at our local recycling depot. We are continuously monitoring our recycling efforts in order to reduce the quantity of waste that is being sent into landfill.

We only use palm oil in our products that has been RSPO certified as we are aware of the impact that palm oil production has on our planet.

Where possible we try to use ingredients that are locally sourced around the Yorkshire area to help reduce our carbon footprint as a business

We take the best quality flour and the recipe uses a long fermentation which brings out the good flavour

The taste is further developed by giving the dough time to rise – twice

Then it is baked to give either crusty bread or softer rolls which all keep well

Potts Bakers was the only baker in Yorkshire in Rick Stein’s original Food Heroes.
